A Blast From The Past

“A Blast fromThe Past”

Taman Tun Performing Art Centre

No.48, Jalan Tun Mohd Faud, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, 6000 Kuala Lumpur. on

29th November 2014

Dear Friends and supporters,

I am Honey Khor (aka Pei Yeou Bradley), chair person and organiser of A Blast to the Past. We are seeking your sponsorship for “ A Blast from the Past”, which is a fun musical extravaganza created, and starred in, by a group of young adults who, kindly and generously, are sharing their talents and time to bring an awareness of giving to us all, believing that supporting charities which aid children, are worthwhile.

I as trained as a fine artist at the Malaysian Institute of Art, and have been involved with various charity events and exhibitions since 2007 and, specifically for the Colors of Cambodia charity, since 2008. A Blast to the Past will be my sixth involvement with Colors of Cambodia and raising money for the underprivileged children of Siem Reap, Cambodia, with whom I volunteer teach in the schools of Siem Reap.

Colors of Cambodia is now assisted by Calista Lim ( singer ) in raising funds. A Blast to the Past will help promote the value of giving back, assisting the valuable work Colors of Cambodia is doing with schools and orphanages in Cambodia, bringing art and art materials (free) to children who would otherwise not have access to them.

Colors of Cambodia is an organisation created in 2003, by the American artist William Gentry. It was established to introduce art and art materials to underprivileged schoolchildren in the Siem Reap area of Cambodia, and help them gain self esteem, and self worth. The wider aim is to teach basic life skills, so that children aided by Colors of Cambodia may have a good start in life and aspire to more than just working in the rice field. Through Colors of Cambodia, children have the chance to discover the wonderful world of creativity and colour.

The children of Siem Reap are a vital cause. I invite you and/or your com- pany to take full advantage of this offer and to participate in this unique opportunity to help unfortunate children in the Siem Reap area of Cambodia, through art sponsorship.

You may help in the following ways

• Advertising in the A Blast to the Past leaflet, and ticket, as well as be- coming an event sponsor. This an excellent opportunity to promote your company, or organisation, and show support for a noble cause.
• Purchase a concert ticket, enjoy A Blast to the Past (100% of all funds from the sale of the tickets will go to the Colors of Cambodia charity - to aid the children - through art, imagination, and creativity).

Thai Zo School's sponsored students

Again and again i am back to Siem Reap to do "a little bit of charity and giving" to Cambodia children. You may ask again and again: "Why Cambodia?" My answer is still the same: "Why not? For a country that giving me an opportunity to learn about giving, for children who live in poverty that need help and support....and charity have no boundaries.

Colors of Cambodia (www.colorsofcambodia.org ) is welcome you to join this mission whenever you are ready. Every December, it's time for me and a group of friends to go to Siem Reap, home visit our sponsored students, giving art workshop, music and movement workshop, and English workshop.

How often are we doing reflection on our life? What have we receiving throughout the year? Isn't it is time for us to give back to the society? In fact, i slow down...and look into my inner self deeply each time i travel to Siem Reap.

Because of this country, I have learned so much. I realised that i am receiving so much since the day i born. Not even need to think of my parent can effort to buy me a school uniform or not. Nor, it is time to stop schooling but to work. We all know that education is very important, but not for the family who live under privilege, who may not know if they can earn enough for today's meal.

Project of sponsoring schooling items for Cambodian students have been run for 2 years. Eventually from 30 students and now up to 100 students. I thank friends who have supported this education project in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It has given the opportunity to those students who live in poverty to go back to school each new year.

I have no idea how many children will drop their schooling every new year, not even the head master of Thai Zo knows. One of the reason is that the families cannot afford to buy school uniforms, shoes (slippers), stationary etc. Another is that families need help to earn a living.

I am very grateful to friends who have followed me, and continuing support this project in Dec 2013 to Siem Reap. We will be offered art & craft lessons and singing & dancing workshops at Thai Zo school. Without their support, this project will not be so complete.

Each visit is life lesson for us to learn, and giving us deep thoughts about what life really means.

Once again, A BIG BIG Thank you to everyone.
